Huck-a-Schmuck

Posted by convolutedmuse on June 6th, 2008

I was at the Libertarian Party’s website tonight looking over a few articles for information. In reading through some of their material I came across this article. The article quotes Mike Huckabee, former Republican Presidential candidate, calling libertarianism a “threat.” Of course Huck, the schmuk, wasn’t through denigrating people with different political views than his own. He went on to say that libertarianism is a “soulless type of economic conservatism.”

Anti-RealID Act Victory!

Posted by convolutedmuse on June 6th, 2008

For those who’ve been following this story a small, yet important, victory has recently been won against the totalitarian legislation known commonly as the RealID Act. In the month of May, a bill passed through Alaska’s state legislature preventing funding for this legislation. In effect, the Real ID Act would create, or more precisely, solidify efforts at shifting us from a representative government to a police state.

Of Primadonas and Cowards: Revisited

After having written my last post concerning the Rick Petrino issue, I assumed the issue was over and we, the paying fans of NFL football, could enjoy the remaining part of the 2007-2008 season. Boy was I wrong!

Of Primadonas and Cowards

Posted by convolutedmuse on December 13th, 2007

I normally don’t use blog space to deal with sports issues but today I feel compelled to do so. Over the last couple of days I’ve heard and read a great deal about the resignation of Bobby Petrino from the Atlanta Falcons football team. Most of these stories have been written from the same viewpoint as if carefully scripted prior to being released to the public. Realistically, they’re probably not but, given their wording, the abject lack of even feigned objectivity, etc, one can only wonder what’s really behind this story. It has left me feeling that much, if not most, of the details have been left out.

Freedom of Speech = The New Breed of Terrorist

When I was a young man I had the privilege — in school — to read George Orwell’s 1984. I’m sure many of you were assigned this book to read as well. Upon finishing the book I remember thinking “it could never happen here.” Since becoming an adult I’ve witnessed an inexorable push by our nations leaders; one leading us towards a state controlled society. Now, according to at least one state agency, Libertarians/Green Party members et al are “terrorists.”

RIAA Claims Go Up In Smoke

Posted by convolutedmuse on November 6th, 2007

For some time now the R.I.A.A. (Recording Industry Association of America) has whined incessantly of how “pirated” music hurts sales thus making life for “artists” extremely difficult if not unbearable. Of course if all the RIAA did was to whine like spoiled brats we could, at some point, grow used to it and move on. Unfortunately for U.S. customers, they’ve become as rabid fanatics seeking out heretics to be burned at the stake. Stories abound of their unjust tactics and indiscriminate targeting of private citizens; all with government approval.
