The Convoluted Muse

I woke up early this morning; a rarity for me. You see, obstructive sleep apnea has made a good night’s rest all but impossible. I am tired all the time though I never fully reach that level of sleep which is restorative: R.E.M. sleep. The doctors have prescribed stimulants to keep me awake during the daytime; certainly preferable to falling asleep while driving but, this “quick-fix” comes at a price: even more trouble sleeping.

I read a couple of articles this morning that really hit home with me. Checking my e-mail this morning I recieved my usual delivery(ies) from the Stickler Involved People list which is always full of interesting and insightful information; today was certainly no exception.

The Arthritus Foundation has asked people to contact their senator’s and representatives for their support of the Arthritis Prevention, Control and Cure Act ,
(H.R. 583/S. 424).  I realize many people will think of other reasons to contact their elected official given the issues of the day but we have a unique opportunity to provide the necessary infrastructure to help a lot of people.

I recieved this article from the Stickler Involved People list; yesterday I think it was. As one who has struggled with chronic pain issues it was a bit of good news.

A few years ago, when my daughter was born, I discovered there was a reason for many of the nagging health related issues I have struggled with throughout my life. These ‘issues’ were, for the most part, ignored by doctors or labelled simply as fibromyalgia.
